Pete Evans, Fanos Panayides and 'that' interview

There wasn’t a truther alive in Australia that wasn’t excited (and dare I say nervous) to watch Liz Hayes interview Fanos Panayides last night.

With most of the 'awake' community already switched off to the television (if they even still own one), it spoke volumes they even relented to tuning back into the idiot box let alone a program such as 60 Minutes whose once recognised high-quality of journalism and integrity has eroded over more recent years.

The fact they themselves even highlight it's 60 minutes of your life you're never going to get back hasn’t aged well.

In reality, the nervous trepidation we experienced leading up to the long-weekend airing should not have been necessary.

Deep down all knew what to expect - a stitch-up.

The more pertinent question was how bad was the deception going to be and, let's face it, we all felt we had a lot riding on how Pete and Fanos performed. After all, they represent us and our 'movement' and as such, we were rooting for them.

As Uncle Ben once sagely advised Peter Parker, 'With great power there must also come great responsibility', and therein lies what must have felt like the weight of the world on their shoulders in accepting the challenge of an interview aired to millions of Aussies in two camps sitting on either side of the backyard fence that thanks to COVID19, currently divides us wider than the Great Wall of C-H-I-N-A.

Within minutes, the manipulative smear campaign disguised as an informative and well-researched segment ran its course.

Yet sadly this approach didn’t stack up with the brainwashed as, however commendable and well-meaning their genuine and simple approach to the media beast was, it was apparent a more factual and scientific conversation was required by the boys - particularly Evans - with less friendly chit-chat with Hayes (allowing for manipulation in the editing room) and way more evidence-based facts and common-sense regarding the pandemic, vaccines and the overall agenda to counterbalance their crony 'experts'.

But as they say, opinions are like arseholes, everyone has one and everyone certainly has one about this interview.

It's easy for any of us to say what should have transpired and what we would have done because the truth is it wasn’t us airing our souls in front of millions of people.

To be fair, they did their best and it's to their credit they had to balls to play their hand and to let the cards fall where they may which is more than what most are prepared to gamble.

Who knows what the fall out of this interview will be?

I'm sure there will be those who after watching may well be inspired, decide to scratch the surface and start the process of going down the rabbit hole.

And of course, some want to dismiss the reality of a world that's crumbling around them to follow along with that perilous path, continuing to blindly follow the 'experts', media, politicians, government and influencer pied-pipers, right to the edge of the cliff.

The question is, when push comes to shove, will they decide to hold hands and jump?
